Welcome to the Australian Wound Management Association (South Australia), formally AWMA(SA), web site. AWMA(SA) is a multidisciplinary group of health professionals interested in contemporary wound management. The objectives of AWMA(SA) are:
- Ensuring a strong governance framework
- Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with health professionals, professional bodies and key organisations/groups
- Promoting contemporary wound management
- Promoting evidence based practice, education and research
- Providing a forum for the dissemination of information to health professionals
AWMA(SA) encourages diverse membership. Current AWMA(SA) members include: nurses, podiatrists, pharmacists, medical officers and other disciplines. AWMA(SA) welcomes persons from all professional backgrounds including clinical practice, education and research. AWMA(SA) is non partisan in its approach to companies and products.
AWMA(SA) members include nationally respected wound management practitioners. A number of members have published in local and national publications and presented at various conferences and seminars.
AWMA(SA) has numerous accomplishments. These include:

A regularly updated web site that provides information, resources and links.
Facilitation of regular education nights and seminar days.
Publication of a quarterly newsletter and subscription to Wound Practice and Research wound journal for members.
AWMA(SA) is affiliated with the national body, the Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA). AWMA is the peak political and professional wound management body in Australia. The philosophy of AWMA is supported by AWMA(SA): “The Australian Wound Management Association believe that all people with, or who are likely to develop a wound are entitled to receive personalised care and management that is supported by current, validated research”.
